Dr Tanya Heyns is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Nursing Science within the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Pretoria. She is currently involved in teaching Trauma/Emergency Nursing at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Dr Heyns has a focused research programme in Practice Development, which guides all current research projects – including personal and post-graduate scholars’ research. She is the current president of the Emergency Nurses Society of South Africa and involved in various organisations to further develop emergency care in South Africa and Africa.
